Lucios finishes 2 works of €20,7M in Porto

Lucios announced today the completion of two contracts in the city of Porto - the expansion of the College of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and the conversion of the old cinema Águia D'Ouro in a budget hotel - projects that provided the company with an intake in the order of € 20.7M.
By providing FMUP with three new buildings, interconnected by a transverse construction, Lucios' intervention, designed by architect Manuel Gonçalves and budgeted at € 16.5M, has solved a number of problems with which the college had been fighting for years.
To be noted that, until now, the sollege's labs and classrooms were insufficient for the number of students, which took the college to adopt alternative solutions, such as teaching the same lesson more than one time, for lack of space to house an entire class, or even to resorting to renting rooms for exams.
"The intervention included the construction of new classrooms, laboratories, spaces for research, as well as the construction of a bridge that links the college and the Hospital S.João, facilitating the flow of people", said Filipe Azevedo, Lucios CEO.
Filipe Azevedo also highlights the completion of the rehabilitation works in more than one emblematic building in the historical center of Porto - the old cinema Águia D'Ouro, at Batalha, is now giving way to a budget hotel, of the brand B & B, an investment made by of the portuguese group Endutex Hotels.
In that century-old building, abandoned for over 20 years, there are now 125 hotel rooms on six floors, a garden and also an underground car park with capacity for 25 cars.
Filipe Azevedo recalls the specifics and difficulties experienced by the company in this work.
It should be noted that, among other projects, spread across different regions of the country, Lucios has taken a particularly active role in urban rehabilitation of the historic center of Porto.
In its portfolio has already reference projects, such as rehabilitation of the old Palace of Cardosas, currently the Intercontinental Hotel and recovery of the Quartier of Corpo da Guarda.
